At 3:55 p.m. on weekdays, a timing plan change is taking place to allow the traffic signal to prepare for the PM commute traffic flow. If your clock is slightly fast (compared to the clock of the traffic signal system), you may be arriving as the afternoon timing plan is still running, which provides up to 15 seconds of programmed green time. It might get a little bit more if there is light(er) traffic on southbound Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Arriving slightly later and until 4 p.m. (during the approximately 5-minute window), the westbound (to southbound) left-turning movement gets up to 36 seconds of green time. During the PM commute timing plan (4 p.m. to 6 p.m.), this movement gets 30 seconds of green time.

There are also many times of the day where movements have their time shortened by ambulances traveling to and from St. Alphonsus Hospital, about 1.5 miles south of this intersection. They do not always have their lights and/or sirens on, so it can be difficult to spot them overriding the normal operation of the traffic signal which provides them a green light in their direction of travel and causes movements to be shortened or even possibly skipped.

With those factors considered, no change to the timing plan is anticipated anytime soon.
