ACHD Commissioners to Decide Budget for Upcoming Fiscal Year

Ada County Highway District Commissioners will discuss and adopt the budget for Fiscal Year 2024 during a public hearing on Wednesday, August 23.

The public hearing will take place in the Michael L. Brokaw Auditorium at ACHD’s Headquarters in Garden City starting at 6 p.m. The meeting will also be livestreamed.

Commissioners will decide on the final budget at the meeting after the public hearing concludes.

The proposed $224 million budget includes projects to increase safety and mobility, and also provides for the maintenance and operation of Ada County’s roads, sidewalks, traffic signals, bike lanes and related infrastructure. The budget includes $22 million for improvements in pedestrian facilities and bikeways, and a $105 million capital program with over 100 projects. ACHD runs on a fiscal year that begins in October.

The proposed budget has an increase of approximately $900,000 in new construction value to the Property Tax Certification for Fiscal Year 2024. The Commission has elected not to take any of the 3% allowable increase to the Property Tax Certification.

These considerations were set by Commission direction at the August 2 meeting and published in the Idaho Press.

Members of the public are invited to weigh in on the proposed budget during the public hearing. Those interested in attending and asking questions can do so in-person or virtually via Zoom. The meeting will also be streamed on YouTube. Information on accessing the meeting virtually is available on ACHD’s website.

Those unable to attend the meeting can submit comments online through TellUs, or send them to 3775 Adams St. Garden City, ID 83714.
