ACHD Commuteride is recognizing businesses and organizations for supporting employees with their commute options during the annual May in Motion campaign.
May in Motion brings together organizations in the Treasure Valley to promote the use of smart commuting including bicycling, walking, carpooling, bussing, vanpooling and telecommuting. Awards are given based on the organization's employee participation, communication efforts to promote transportation options to their employees, and the commute incentives and benefits they provide.
This year, 58 businesses participated in May in Motion, with participants taking 29,430 trips by alternative commute modes; that's an average of 1400 trips each workday in May. Thanks to employees' efforts, 176,200 vehicle miles were removed from Treasure Valley roadways, and 138 tons of CO2 were removed from the valley's air. Telework and bicycling were the two most popular ways employees used green commuting during May in Motion.
The businesses were recognized during a luncheon and awards ceremony on Thursday.
