ADA COUNTY- The Ada County Highway District Board of Commissioners has approved an update to the District's ordinance regarding development applications.
Commissioners approved Ordinance Number 249, which amends Title II, Section 7101.6.7 of the Ada County Highway District Code.
The updated ordinance now allows Ada County, cities within Ada County, and Valley Regional Transit to appeal decisions of staff and management at the District on development applications. Local government entities will also have the option of requesting a waiver to appeal a decision by ACHD staff.
"The update to the ordinance helps further our relationships with our partner agencies navigating new development," said Commission President Alexis Pickering. "As our county grows, it takes coordination between many agencies, and this update accounts for the occasions, though rare, in which more discussion is needed to reach a solution that benefits everyone. We firmly believe it is always better to increase opportunities for communication, especially when there may be conflicts or challenges with new development. I'm proud we've made collaboration easier today."
The update to the ordinance was presented and discussed on the May 3 regular Commission meeting, where the Board reached a unanimous decision for approval.
