ACHD Welcomes New Commissioner, Elects New Leadership

ADA COUNTY- Ada County Highway District Commissioners are starting the new year with a new Commissioner and new leadership on the board.
Commissioner Miranda Gold was officially sworn in during Wednesday's Commission meeting. She represents Commission District 3, represented previously by Mary May who served the District for four years.
"I am humbled at the opportunity to join the ACHD Commission and represent constituents throughout the county," said Commissioner Gold. "ACHD is a unique agency, facing unique challenges and opportunities. I look forward to working with my fellow Commissioners, and our partner agencies, in the coming years as we help further meet the county's transportation needs."
Commissioner Gold was joined by her husband, Daniel and her sons, Milo and Simon, and sworn in by ACHD Commissioner Alexis Pickering.
Commissioner Kent Goldthorpe was also sworn in for his third term after re-election in November. Goldthorpe will continue to represent District 4.
"We've made incredible progress over the past decade, and I am honored to be re-elected to continue that progress from my seat on the Commission," said Commissioner Goldthorpe. "I appreciate the people in District 4 for entrusting me to serve for another term. I am optimistic that the current Commission will continue to make great strides in developing and maintaining for all users our growing transportation network."
Commissioner Goldthorpe was joined by his wife, Marina, and sworn in by Meridian Mayor Robert Simison.
Each January, the ACHD Board of Commissioners elects a president and vice president to lead the elected body for the year. Commissioner Alexis Pickering was selected by a unanimous vote of her peers to serve as the new Commission president. As president, Pickering will conduct Commission meetings, set agendas for each meeting, and serve as the official spokesperson of the Commission.
Commissioner Jim Hansen was chosen to serve as the Commission's vice president, who takes on presidential duties in the absence of the president.
"It is an honor to be voted in as the 2023 ACHD Commission President. I am excited about the opportunity to continue to build on ACHD's legacy of building and maintaining safe infrastructure," said President Pickering. "I am proud to play a role in an agency that is elevating the standard of transportation in Idaho, through community involvement, innovation, and partnership."
