ADA COUNTY- The Ada County Highway District's Ten Mile, Victory to Overland project is being recognized for the outstanding partnership between the District and contractors.
ACHD and Central Paving Company, Inc. earned a Gold Award for Excellence in Construction Partnering from the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and the Idaho Associated General Contractors (AGC).
The third annual awards competition is a collaboration between ITD and AGC, recognizing current and recently completed projects that value project partnering to help complete transportation projects across Idaho in a timely, professional, and responsive manner.
The Ten Mile, Victory to Overland project improved the intersection and roadway operations, increasing safety for current and future users. Through close communication between the District, Central Paving, and agency partners, the involved parties were able to work together to open the road two months ahead of schedule to accommodate harvest season for area ranchers.
The completed project includes a new roundabout at Ten Mile and Victory roads. The roundabout is currently one lane with dedicated right-hand turn lanes, and is designed to be easily expanded to a full multi-lane roundabout when needed to accommodate future traffic volumes.
Ten Mile Road is now two-lanes in each direction with a center turn lane and center medians and multi-use pathways lining both sides of the road. Improvements have also been made to curbs, gutters, crosswalks and splitter islands.
In addition to roadway improvements, ACHD worked with agency partners to install fiber and make improvements to the area's infrastructure while the road was closed, avoiding further closures in the future.
"Partnership was essential in completing this project ahead of schedule," said Amber Morales, project manager. "We couldn't have done it without a lot of coordination between our partners Six Mile Engineering, Central Paving, and our staff, including our right-of-way and in-house design teams."
