ACHD Commuteride has several opportunities for residents to travel smart and safely this fall:
Ridetober: Commuters Wanted
It's not too late to join in on Commuteride's Ridetober Challenge, which encourages Treasure Valley commuters to use smart transportation options in October. Each day commuters bike, walk, carpool, vanpool, or ride the bus, and track their commutes on SharetheRideIdaho.com, they are entered to win daily Ridetober Rewards.
Commuters have a chance to win $25 each workday in October. Each week, five daily winners will be drawn from commuters who log two trips per week. For those new to Share the Ride Idaho, Commuteride will select four people who create new profiles to win $100. Those who log ten or more smart trips in October will have a chance to win one of several prizes, including an Apple Watch SE, iPad, and a $300 gift card to any local bike shop.
Last year, Ridetober participants took 3,579 smart trips during the month of October, helping remove 23,430 miles from Treasure Valley roadways.
"Ridetober is another great time to rethink your commute," said ACHD Commission President Mary May. "I encourage residents to take this opportunity to explore their transportation options."

Ride Bright Pop-up Bike Light Giveaway
Commuteride and local transportation and public safety partners are coming together to promote bike safety. As the days get shorter and darker, several organizations around Ada County are ensuring bike lights are readily available at no cost to those who need them.
The Ride Bright Pop-up Giveaway will be at various locations around Ada County on Wednesday, October 5 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. (while supplies last).
People on bikes can stop by any location to receive free bike lights and get help installing them. Organizations will also provide information on safety and other giveaways to keep bicyclists safe throughout the year.
"ACHD Commuteride is excited to continue this important bike safety initiative," said Tessa Greegor, ACHD Commuteride Manager. "After last year's success, we hope to once again shine a light on the importance of traveling safely and looking out for all roadway users."
An interactive map of Ride Bright station locations is available on ACHD Commuteride's website.
“In addition to promoting safety, I always enjoy events like these since they allow us to connect with those who are actively using the projects we are designing," said Meg McCarthy, Bicyclist and Pedestrian Program Coordinator.
“These events highlight that we are real people at ACHD who are trying to improve their neighborhoods and make biking and walking more safe and comfortable.
ACHD Commuteride would like to thank the following participating organizations: Ada County Highway District, Idaho Transportation Department, Treasure Valley Cycling Alliance, Idaho Walk Bike Alliance, Boise State's Cycle Learning Center, Boise Bicycle Project, Valley Regional Transit, Boise Police Department, Ada County Sheriff's Office, and Eagle Police Department.
