Chip Seal on Bogus Basin Road

With Bogus Basin kicking off limited summer operations this weekend, ACHD would like to remind residents to drive carefully on the freshly chip sealed road.

Crews have been applying chip seal on Bogus Basin Road from West Curling Drive to just past the county line and plan to finish laying chips on Friday. In the coming weeks, crews will be back to sweep up loose chips, apply a fog seal and restripe the roadway. The entire process is expected to be complete by the end of the month, weather permitting.

In the meantime, drivers heading up to Bogus Basin should drive slowly on Bogus Basin Road. Driving too fast can kick up loose chips, causing damage to windshields.

Those who are making the drive to Bogus Basin this weekend will be playing a key role in the chip seal process. The weight of cars on the roadway helps further push chips into the emulsion as it hardens. Read more information about the chip seal process.

In 2023, ACHD plans to chip seal the rest of Bogus Basin Road, from the county line up to the Bogus Basin parking lot.

This year, crews will be spending the majority of chip seal season in South Ada County including Kuna and some South Meridian streets. Next week, crews plan to start chipping on Five Mile Road south of Victory Road, heading south.

Residents can view the interactive chip seal map to find out where crews are working. The map is updated daily during chip seal season, which typically runs from June until September.
