ADA COUNTY-- From trick-or-treating to costume parties, there are several ways to enjoy Halloween in Ada County. Trick-or-treaters will be going door-to-door and enjoying community events throughout the weekend.

Harrison Boulevard will see increased foot traffic as neighbors enjoy the Boise North End Halloween Tour. Bars and restaurants in downtown Boise will be participating in parties and bar crawls in the evenings. Several trunk-or-treats are also scheduled throughout Ada County.

In order for Halloween to happen safely, the Ada County Highway District calls on neighbors, drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, and parents to do their part to keep residents safe.

Tips for Drivers:

• Be prepared to see more pedestrians in the roadways, in medians and on the curbs
• Watch for children who may be in dark costumes, moving quickly and may dart out between parked cars
• Enter and exit driveways and alleyways carefully
• Do not block crosswalks or driveways
• Watch out for scooters and bicycles, and remember they move faster than people walking
• Don't drink and drive - have a designated driver if you plan on drinking alcohol
• Use your headlights at all times to help spot pedestrians and be more visible to those on foot and wheels

Tips for Pedestrians:

• Use the crosswalk and look both ways before crossing the street
• Watch for cars at intersections, in alleyways and in driveways
• Use a flashlight and reflectors to be better seen in the dark
• When crossing the street, don't wear a mask that obstructs your vision

Tips for Cyclists:

• Use bike lanes whenever possible instead of the sidewalk
• When using the sidewalk, yield to pedestrians
• Keep an eye out for pedestrians crossing the street
• Watch for passengers opening car doors
• Use a bike light and reflectors 

With COVID-19 still a concern in Ada County, those celebrating Halloween should take precautions, including participating in lower risk activities, as outlined by Central District Health. Those who are sick or have been exposed to COVID-19 should not hand out candy or participate in in-person Halloween activities.
