ACHD's Commuteride released their annual report today. In all, the agency helped eliminate seven million miles of vehicle travel from our local roadways through vanpool and other smart commutes.
Despite challenges related to the pandemic, Commuteride's Club Red vanpool service remained a safe and viable commute option for many essential workers. On average, 69 Commuteride vans stayed on route, supporting 117,864 trips and eliminating over six million miles of vehicle travel from roadways in the valley.
Commuteride's partnership with Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area provided Bogus Basin employees with transportation to the resort on Commuteride vans throughout the winter, reducing 159 tons of carbon emissions. With the support of the Idaho Transportation Department, Commuteride also launched SharetheRideIdaho.com, a statewide rideshare website designed to connect commuters with smart commuting options.
"As we reflect on 2020, a year full of new challenges and opportunities, we are proud of Commuteride's work to maintain a safe and essential public transportation service, while supporting the transportation needs of Treasure Valley employers and residents," said Commuteride Manager Tessa Greegor.
