The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) is proud to announce that ACHD General Counsel Steven Price has been honored as one of the Idaho Business Review's 2020 Leader's in Law, In-office Counsel. The award recognizes select Idaho attorneys for leadership in their field, professional achievements, mentorship, and community service.

Price's interest in law began early in his life. At only 15 years old, he began working in private law firms. After high school he attended the University of Utah, and then went on to law school at the University of Idaho. It was his insatiable appetite to continually learn new things, getting to see the U.S. Supreme Court as a child, and the phrase, "justice for all" that inspired him to become an attorney.

He has been practicing law for 27 years now, including 18 years as the General Counsel for the Ada County Highway District.

"My position as General Counsel requires me to keep learning new things and provides a sense of freshness every day at work, having to learn numerous areas of law, different businesses, politics, and the diversity of people," says Price.

Steve says he finds passion in helping find solutions that bring efficiency and avoid conflict, and at the end of the day, saving taxpayers money.

"I always feel great satisfaction to solve issues and find a legal way to get something done. This involves looking outside the box-being creative-and helping everyone get what they need to be successful," says Price.

An avid golfer in his spare time, Price began participating in the ACHD Employee Golf Tournament, which originally was just for ACHD employees. But a shared vision with ACHD's Director Bruce Wong led him to develop the golf tournament into an event that would benefit the community-something ACHD employees have a strong passion for.

"As long as I have been at ACHD, the ACHD employees have always been exceptionally dedicated to helping the public at work, but the employees have also done things to give back to the community outside of ACHD business," says Price. "The golf tournament is really a biproduct of all these efforts and the employees core values. The tournament grows each year, which demonstrates how lucky we are to live in a community where so many people are benevolent in helping people in need."

The Annual ACHD Charity Golf Tournament, which would have been in its 19th year next month, benefits children/family and military charities. The COVID-19 pandemic required ACHD to postpone this year's tournament.

While Price is incredibly honored by this prestigious recognition, he humbly credits the ACHD staff who share the mission.

"It is a tremendous honor to receive this professional award from the Idaho Business Review. I am very grateful to be recognized with so many outstanding past and present attorney recipients," said Price. "I am especially indebted to Director Wong who has entrusted me with the responsibility to provide legal advice and counsel to the ACHD Board of Commissioners, the Executive Team, and the staff for the last 18 years."

"In this world, we stand on the shoulders of so many that support us. To be fair, this award really goes to the ACHD and its dedicated employees who have the shared values, goals, and aspirations in providing the best transportation in Idaho," says Price.

Price will be honored by the Idaho Business Review in a virtual awards ceremony to be held on November 19th at 4 p.m.
