ACHD to Begin Soft Reopen on Friday

On Friday, May 8th, the Ada County Highway District will begin a soft reopening of the highway district; a phased approach to reopening that is in line with CDC guidelines and the Governor's directions in reopening the economy..

Some staff members will return to ACHD buildings on Friday, though remote work is still being encouraged for those who are able to do so, including those who belong to vulnerable groups.

All aspects of the ACHD operation have been considered as preparations for reopening begin. ACHD leadership has ensured proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be available to all staff members who would like them. Plexiglass barriers have been installed in reception areas, lobbies and conference rooms, and employees using staff gathering areas (offices, break rooms, restrooms, etc.) must maintain social distancing requirements.

Employees are required to stay home if they are ill (even for non-COVID-related illnesses). They must practice the six-feet social distancing requirements, and wear face masks when six feet of separation cannot be maintained. They will be encouraged to wash hands frequently; practice cough and sneeze etiquette; and to disinfect surfaces and objects regularly. Many maintenance and traffic operations procedures have also been temporarily adjusted to ensure the maximum safety and protection of staff.

At this point, our lobbies remain closed to the public (outside of appointments) and Commission meetings and other publicly-attended events will continue to be held virtually.

As the Treasure Valley slowly begins to reopen the economy through these initial Governor-directed phases, certain criteria must be met in order for Idaho to advance to the next stage. The Ada County Highway District will continue to be vigilant in waiting and watching for these criteria to be met in our community, for the continued safety and health of staff, and for further direction from Governor Little before advancing to Phase 2.
