Construction Services Monitoring Quality

The Construction Section administers and inspects numerous capital construction project contracts awarded by the District, and issues change orders and progress payments. Construction also works under a Stewardship Agreement in cooperation with the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) to administer federally funded construction contracts that are sponsored by the District. These projects may include railroad crossing improvements, roadway construction, bridges, and signals.

Materials and Testing

The Materials staff and laboratory are certified by the Western Alliance for Quality Transportation in Construction (WAQTC). ACHD is the only highway district in Idaho that has this certification and relationship with the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and the Federal Highway Administration. The state-of-the-art material lab works to ensure the durability and longevity of roadways, through comprehensive testing and utilizing new technology.

The District’s radiation safety program is managed by this division, receiving commendations for its training, record keeping, maintenance, and enforcement of Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements.
